Referrals from general practitioners to medical specialists allows for the specialist consultation to be rebatable by Medicare. Referrals are legal documents and contain private and detailed information.

If you require a new referral to a specialist doctor then you will need to book an appointment for review by your general practitioner.

For ongoing referrals, patients will need to be reviewed by their general practitioner if they have not attended Main Street Medical Centre within the past six months.

Referrals for pathology and Xray will require review by your general practitioner. Lost referrals may be reprinted at the doctor’s discretion.
